Daily Living Skills Training and Employment
The HCDAC helps to promote independence and community integration by providing training where needed, whether it be in daily living skills or in learning new employment skills.
Community employment is offered to our clients. Some of the companies that employ them include Lamb/Weston RDO, Heritage Living Center, Park Rapids School District, Park Drug, Team Industries, and St. Joseph's Hospital.
We provide for our clients one-on-one training through on-site job coaching, technical support, transportation, and counseling.
Center-based employment is an alternative to community employment. We contract work through area businesses that our clients can do during the day at the DAC.
The HCDAC owns and operates the Bearly Used Thrift Store, located in downtown Park Rapids. Some of our clients work there and help with the sorting and stocking of merchandise.
The DAC has held the recycling contract for the community since 1987. We have several clients that work there throughout the year also.
Contract work includes
- assembly work
- paper shredding
- button making/design
- crafts
- rug weaving
- collating
